Cameroonian and West African cuisine reinterpreted
Spread the love of cooking

This week is particularly important in both the Christian and Muslim worlds, because, as in previous years, Holy Week falls within the month of Ramadan. Therefore, it's always a very special time for my whole family. We are a multicultural and multireligious blended family, and we fully embrace this diversity.

While I have been fully immersed in fasting since the beginning of Ramadan, my husband, as he does every year at this time, is focusing on the Passion of Christ during the last week of Lent. Each of us lives our faith wholeheartedly and supports each other as much as we are able. Since I need to conserve my energy during Ramadan, he gladly supports me by temporarily taking on more of my family responsibilities. In return, I also give him my full attention during this week of Lent.

Lent is a special time for Christians, commemorating the suffering of Christ and his death on the cross. Many Christians fast during this period, which lasts from Ash Wednesday to Easter. Some devote more time to prayer and meditation. As is well known, meat is forbidden during this Lenten season, at least on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. In honor of this Christian tradition, almost exclusively fish dishes were served this week.

The whole thing as a video

The fasting period is thus another link between the three world religions. While Muslims fast during the month of Ramadan and Jews during Yom Kippur , Christians fast during Lent. This clearly demonstrates how many similarities exist between the three religions.

Now for my favorite fish dish of the week. It wasn't easy to decide which fish dish to post today. I had croaker, tilapia, pangasius, and salmon. I chose the latter because everyone in the family liked it the most and it was also the easiest to prepare. You can see the result for yourselves.

With that in mind, I wish you and your family a happy Easter !
